Our Services

Our Service, Savana provide services based on a feminist perspective which underpins the work with female victims of sexual violence but also recognises that people with different backgrounds, skills, attitudes and experiences bring fresh ideas and perceptions. We wish to encourage and harness these differences to make our service relevant and approachable whilst keeping in mind the importance of what the feminist background means to Savana and the clients using the service.
We wish to draw upon the widest possible range of views and experiences, so we can listen to, and meet the changing needs of our clients, staff, volunteers, partners and supporters. Violence against women is both a cause and consequence of gender inequality and is an abuse of the power imbalance between women and men. Savana recognise this and to support our female clients we offer a female only space if the client so wishes.

Individual counselling, provision of information and support
Savana provides two distinct services to those who have experienced or are affected by any form of sexual violence whether recently or in the past – counselling and the Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) service.

Referral to SARC
Staffordshire Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC).

Training
We offer an external training service to both those working with people who have experienced sexual violence and to individuals who wish to further their professional development. These courses have been developed using our 30 years of experience working with men, women and child survivors of sexual violence.

Our specialist courses are CPD accredited and are delivered by our own professionally qualified trainers, some of whom also work as counsellors for the service.
